Slow Italy

Slow Italy

Slow Italy

Italy for people who would rather eat well in two places than rush through six. Small towns, family wineries and the dinners locals book for themselves.

Food lovers, 8 to 12 days

Best in May, June and October

Planning from $350

Two spritz glasses, olives and lemons on a painted table above the sea

What it can look like

  • A farmhouse in Chianti with a pool and a view of the vines

  • A cooking class in a Ravello kitchen, then lunch on the terrace

  • Market mornings, long lunches, early evenings

  • Trains between regions, never a rental car you don’t want

What I plan for you

Two or three bases instead of a new hotel every night, the tables worth booking, and whole afternoons left open for wandering.

A week, roughly

Train from Rome to Florence. Three nights in a Chianti farmhouse, with a vineyard lunch and a day in Siena. Train south to Naples, then a driver to Ravello for three nights of lemon groves and cooking.

Good to know

Planning is $350 for one country up to 10 days and comes off your booking.

A long dinner table under string lights in Tuscany at sunset
